Here’s some teen social media stats, 91% of 16 to 24 years olds use the Internet for social media and social networking.
Social media use is linked with increased rates of anxiety, depression and poor sleep.
Social media has been described as being more addictive than cigarettes and alcohol.
Here’s a list of the best and worst social media apps for teens mental health according to this report:
On the best side we have YouTube, Twitter and Facebook and worst is Instagram and Snapchat.
Now let’s look at a list of potential negative effects of social media.
1.Anxiety and depression
Research suggests that young people who spend 2 hours per day on social media or more are likely to report poor mental health including psychological distress and symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Numerous studies have shown that increased social media use has a significant association with poor quality sleep in young people.
Using phones, laptops and tablets at night before bed is also linked with poor quality sleep.
Body image is an issue for many young people, both male and female. Studies have Shown that when women in their teens and early 20s view Facebook for only a short period of time,
body image concerns are higher compared to non-users.
Bullying during childhood is a major risk factor for a number of issues including mental health,
education and social relationships, with long lasting effects often carried right through to adulthood.
5.FOMO(the fear of missing out)
FOMO has been robustly linked to higher levels of social media engagement,
meaning that the more an individual uses social media, the more they are likely to experience FOMO.
Now let’s look at some of the potential positive effects of social media.
1.Access To Expert Health Information
Social networking offers young people who maybe suffering from mental health issues an opportunity to read,
watch or listen to, and understand, the health experiences of others relating them back to their own reality.
Conversations on social media can emerge and provide young people with essential interactions to overcome difficult health issues,
particularly when they may not have access to that support face to face.

Self-expression and self identity are important aspects of development throughout the teen years.
Social media can act as an effective platform for positive self-expression, letting teens put forward their best self.

How to Make Your Hair Longer and Thicker in 30 Days
Every now and then we look for ways to have shiny long hair. After all, hair is something that can give your face a requisite makeover. According to science, hair grows between 0.3 to 0.5 mm per day, 1 to 1.5 cm a month and 12 to 15 cm a year. Hair also takes credit for being the second fastest growing tissue in the body. But still, we all face one problem or another regarding our hair.
At Mobonews, we wanted to relieve you a little by bringing together some tried and tested remedies to strengthen and grow your hair. You will start seeing the much needed change after following the below remedies.
When you are dying to grow your hair out, getting scissors anywhere near your hair is like a nightmare. However, the reality is just the opposite of what you’re thinking. It’s advised to get a trim for your hair on a regular basis, and more often if you’re trying to grow it out.
Trimming your hair not only gets rid of your broken, split ends, but also helps maintain the health of your hair. No split ends mean the damage won’t travel up to the roots, and you can flaunt the healthier, fuller version of your hair. And don’t forget, it’s much easier to style trimmed hair.
2. Never ditch your conditioner.
First, there’s a myth about the duration of keeping the conditioner on your hair and we have to tell you this just isn’t true. Against popular belief, the conditioner has instant beneficial effects on your hair. Other than that, it also saves us from towel damage which is the damage caused by wrapping our wet hair in a towel.
Don’t think conditioner is only for few particular hair types. It is a must to maintain the good health of all hair types. So apply conditioner after every wash and let your hair down!
3. Get help from some magic ingredients.
Applying a few ingredients directly on the hair and scalp have also been suggested. For instance, onion and garlic juice, gooseberries, shikakai, apple cider vinegar, and coconut milk give nourishment to hair and improve hair growth.
They not only help with growth, but also help with the overall health of your scalp and hair.
A must know trick:
If you thought beer was only supposed to be chilled and consumed, try boiling it. After boiling it, add your regular shampoo to it, and wash your hair with it. You will realize how advantageous beer is either way. You can easily wash your hair this way twice or three times a week.
Beer shampoo not only helps remove all kinds of impurities from hair, but also acts as an excellent conditioner.
4. The weekly nourishment through oil and masks
A hair mask or oiling of the hair should be religiously followed on a weekly basis. This is important if you want to boost hair growth. This also helps the hair retain essential fats, which keeps it healthier. A tip for oiling your hair is applying oil to damp hair.
This will help you shampoo off the oil completely and easily.
Getting spa treatments is one way to do this, but you can do it at home too by making hair packs that can work wonders for your tresses. Ingredients like honey, lemon, avocado, olive oil, and, onion juice are some of the ingredients that can be used for making a hair mask.
5. Swap your cotton pillowcase for a silk one.
This is an easy change that you can make to help hair growth. Instead of the cotton ones, switch to silk or satin pillowcases that have been noted to boost hair growth. The reason behind this is that the softness of the silk and satin fabric, as opposed to cotton, is better for your hair.
The silk or satin don’t cause friction, which makes your hair less tangled. And this way, your hair breakage is also minimal.
6. The correct way of drying your hair after washing
It doesn’t matter how soft your towel is, it will always contribute to damaging your delicate damp hair. Women often wrap their hair after washing, which is certainly not advised as it can cause damage to hair strands while they get tangled in the woven fibers of the towel.
If your mission to increase the length of your hair is genuine, try and stay away from heating tools for hair, like hair dryers, straighteners and curlers. Any kind of heat causes damage to your hair. You may use a hair dryer after your hair is at least 60% dry naturally. You should also use hair protection spray before using a hair dryer.
7. Let your hair breathe.
Our busy schedules, and time spent outdoors force us to use several things on our hair. This makes our hair tired and much more prone to damage. First, if your mission is to have long hair, don’t tie it back too tight. This unnecessary pulling can cause splits and breakage.
Hair also tends to catch microbial infections which can lead to poor hair growth. So it’s important to get antimicrobial treatments from time to time to let the hair grow without any hindrance. Another important thing to keep in mind is covering your hair when going out. The heat of the sun can cause bad damage to your hair just like it can to your skin.
So wear a hat or apply hair sunscreen.
8. Your diet matters.
It has been noted by scientists that eating certain food can boost hair growth. In particular, food ingredients rich in biotin or Vitamin H, which act as a fuel for body, are advised. They tend to help with the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and amino acids and they help elevate the protein level in the body. This, in turn, helps the hair to a great extent as hair is made up of protein.
Foods rich in biotin are milk, cheese, eggs, all kinds of nuts, pork, cooked liver, sardines, salmon, cauliflower, and avocado.
9. Don’t be too eager to wash it.
It’s not good to wash your hair too often even if you hear that you shouldn’t let your hair be dirty. It’s right that clean hair grows faster, but at the same time, washing it regularly will do no good. Washing it daily can make it dry and help it lose its natural essential oils.
It’s also advised to massage your hair gently and easily while washing and comb your hair afterward.
10. Combine onion juice and coconut oil.
The advantages of onion juice for hair regrowth are well-known. Onion juice has been proven to be effective in the treatment for alopecia areata. Onions regulate the hair growth cycle and give direct nourishment to the hair follicle.
When onion juice is mixed with coconut oil the benefits get doubled. Coconut oil helps to retain the natural oils of the hair strand, thus preventing dryness. Coconut oil is also a rich source of vitamin E and lauric acid. If you can’t find coconut oil, you can also use almond or mustard oil.
11. Have patience.
Hair cannot grow overnight. But the stress about it will have a negative effect for sure. On average, a hair strand grows a quarter of an inch to half an inch per month. Even if you perform all the above things, it can grow up to 1 inch at the max.
So, it’s important that you have patience, keep following the hair growth plan, and don’t stop doing treatments in between. After all, you have dreamt of having long silky tresses which may take time.
Healthy, long, and shining hair are everybody’s dream and a difficult task at the same time. We hope we have given you solutions for some of your difficulties. Please share more of the tips you use to make your strands lovely.
9 Ways to Control Your Bladder When There’s No Bathroom in Sight
A buildup of gas in your intestines can place additional pressure on your bladder. Alleviating this pressure by passing gas may make you feel more comfortable and allow you to hold in urine for longer.
The way you position your body can help you tighten the muscles around your bladder and make you feel like “holding it in” is a possibility. Don’t slouch and sit up straight to relieve some pressure on the bladder. This may reduce the urge of having to pee.
3. Stay warm.
When you’re cold, your body will react to the drop in temperature. One of the consequences is that more pee will be produced. So when you already have the urge to pee, cover yourself up with blankets or turn up the heat.
4. Lie down.
According to this study, the pressure on your bladder drops progressively when lying down compared to a vertical position. When standing up, you will use your abdominals to hold your posture and the weight of the pee will also press on the bladder.
5. Cross your legs while standing.
The urethra is the tube that leads your pee out of your body. You can squeeze this tube slightly by crossing your legs. Make sure you cross them while standing since in a seated position, it might only lead to more pressure on the bladder.
6. Try not to laugh.
When having a good laugh, your core muscles will tense, putting pressure on your bladder. However, the sphincter muscle, which closes the urethra to prevent leaking, relaxes with this increased pressure and that’s when urination occurs. So you’d better try to avoid giggling when you have the urge to pee!
7. Think of a distraction.
When your bladder is more or less half-full, nerves in the bladder will tell the brain that it’s time to go. This need to pee might be less urgent than it feels, so a distraction might override the urge to pee for a while. So next time, try to think about something else or scroll through your phone a bit and you will see that the feeling goes away.
8. Squeeze your butt.
Bladder control depends on the pelvic floor muscles which are the muscles around your peeing tube. Squeezing your butt cheeks together a few times is a quick exercise to tighten those muscles which can help hold urine inside the bladder, preventing leakage. You can do this in any position, standing up or sitting down.
9. Avoid getting into water.
The same phenomenon as explained previously can happen when you’re swimming in cold water. However, we suggest keeping out of the water altogether because when leaving a warm bath, going to a cooler place may suddenly give you an overwhelming desire to pee.
Bonus: Train yourself to hold more pee.
Some people need more frequent bathroom breaks than others. But this may be because you’ve taught yourself some bad habits which, believe it or not, can be reversed. Try this step-by-step bladder-training technique:
- For a day or 2, keep track of the times you urinate during the day.
- Select an interval for training that is 15 minutes longer than you normally take between toilet visits.
- When you start training, empty your bladder first thing in the morning. If the urge hits, use our techniques suggested in this article to delay it until your set interval.
- Start increasing your interval by 15 minutes every day. Over several weeks or months, you may find far fewer feelings of urgency!

Twins With Different Skin Colors Astonished Their Mom When They Were Born
These 2 kids may not look alike, but they share a unique bond. Even though many may not believe it at first, the boy and girl are actually twins, and despite their differences, their connection seems to be truly delightful.
We at Mobonews enjoy one-of-a-kind stories and believe that diversity makes people all the more special.
Even though the odds of having twins with different colored skin, eyes, and hair are slim, it’s not impossible. But still, seeing your babies for the first time bearing different colored features must come as quite a surprise.
In fact, when Judith Nwokocha (their mom) gave birth in 2016, she said she was shocked: “I remember thinking the nurse handed me the wrong baby. Lol.” Well, no one can blame her.
Kachi has a rare case of albinism.
Kachi has oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) type 2, which is an inherited condition where people do not produce sufficient melanin (pigment) and this affects their appearance, mainly in the eyes, skin, and hair.
One in every 4 children has the chance of being affected when both parents are carriers of the albinism gene.
Even though she has albinism, Kachi is perfectly healthy.
Despite her albinism, other than her skin being more sensitive to the sun and having to wear glasses due to her slightly poorer eyesight, Kachi is perfectly healthy.
Originally from Nigeria, Judith works as a photographer in Canada and snaps plenty of photos of Kamsi and Kachi’s everyday adventures.
Kachi and Kamsi are becoming the best of friends.
It’s natural to assume that people have a tough time believing that Kachi and Kamsi are twins. But even though Kachi turns a few heads on the street, Judith hasn’t let that put her down. In fact, one of the reasons why she takes so many pictures of Kachi and Kamsi is because she wants to prove to her daughter just how beautiful she is.
Judith publicly speaks about how blessed she feels to have these 2 wonderful children, and she says that even though they look very different, in many ways they are very alike, and their bond grows stronger by the day.
The story of Kachi and Kamsi is a true testament to the saying that what makes you different makes you unique. The twins are now 4 years old and their connection grows stronger with each passing day.
What do you think of Kachi’s story? Do you agree that it’s our unique differences that make us special?
12 Psychological Tricks That Can Make Anyone Fall for You
Becoming the soul of company might seem like an impossible mission at first. We might think that we need some natural charisma or talent to be liked by the people around us. But actually, being likable is something that we can easily train for by putting some effort, imagination, and improvisation into the process.
Mobonews prepared a list of foolproof, yet effective tips that can help you to win people over, even if you are an introvert to the core. Make sure you save them!
Put effort into establishing a warm and positive connection to let people form a special impression of you. The win-win option here is always going to be a sincere smile. However, just one emotion is not enough. A personalized touch like a handshake, a quick tap on the shoulder, or even a short hug, plays a significant role.
The most important thing here is to try to feel the energy of the other person and follow their body language with your own gestures.
2. Engage them in talking about themselves.
Most people love talking about themselves, so you can make use of this. Ask them about their hobbies, the places they’ve been or might want to visit, plans for the weekend, and much more. Don’t get too private, as this can make a person feel uncomfortable and they might even try to push you away.
Also, it’s good to avoid closed questions where the answer is just a simple “yes” or “no.” Instead, make use of the question, “Why?” or “How?” — it gives the other person an awesome opportunity to talk more about a chosen topic.
3. Put an emphasis on the similar traits you both share.
We tend to be attracted to people who are somewhat similar to us, and this has a name: the “similarity-attraction effect.” Try to find something that might be similar in you and the person you’re talking to. It can be your taste in music, a certain food you both like to eat, or a sport you both enjoy watching. After you’ve found it out, you need to make use of it by discussing it with this person or inviting them to visit the place where you can both enjoy this activity. These simple things might not seem like they are very important, but they do a great job of making people feel personally connected to you, and help them enjoy being around you.
4. Compliment the things that people struggle with the most.
Some compliments can awaken a completely different range of feelings in us. Just complimenting someone’s smile or eye color is not going to make much difference for a person, they will probably see it as a very neutral thing. Naturally, they didn’t earn these things, they are just a part of who they are. The key here is to notice the thing that a person struggled with the most and praise them for it.
For example, let’s say that you know that this person worked day and night on a project, and it turned out to be a huge success. Admiring their hard work and effort will awaken a deep feeling of satisfaction, making them genuinely happy and even proud of themselves.
5. Don’t forget to always be mindful of your body language.
Even if we don’t notice it, crossed arms and legs tell others that we can’t be trusted and that we’re hiding something. But no matter how hard it might be for you, try to open your stance. The best thing you can do is to keep your spine and legs straight and your hands open with your palms turned toward other people. Putting a relaxed and inviting look on your face will make other people feel more comfortable being around you, and naturally, like you more.
6. Share the truth about your flaws.
Some people can get extremely irritated when others try to act like they are perfect. Sharing your weaknesses and failures can make you appear genuine and allow the people around you to feel closer and more engaged with you. Though, make sure you don’t overdo it and talk about all your failures and bad moments, otherwise the effect will be just the opposite.
7. Be the first one who makes a joke.
Instead of waiting for someone to loosen up the tension in the room, be the one who takes action — make a funny, yet harmless, comment about the situation you are in, things you are working on, etc. If you’ve known the person long enough, you can sometimes tease them in a friendly way, but remember that you should never attack their identity or laugh at something that they can’t change about themselves. Whoever you are teasing needs to be laughing along with you. And don’t forget to laugh at yourself from time to time as well.
8. Laugh at someone else’s jokes too.
Support others’ attempts at making the atmosphere more friendly. By laughing along, you will support the other person and help them see that you are listening to them.
Even if someone makes a bad joke, you can turn it into a funny one by having a good laugh. This way, you will make other people go along with it and make everyone feel good. Always remember: laugh with them, not at them!
9. To be interesting, be interested.
Most of the time, people like to talk rather than listen, and they only appreciate those who pay attention to them. One of the ways to appear as a careful and attentive listener is by repeating the phrases that the person you’re talking to just said.
For example, use question tags like, “I know, right?!”. In addition, don’t forget to play with encouraging words like, “Exactly!” or “That’s right!” and so on. This technique is also called an “emotionally reflective response.”
10. Be a magnet for people around you and engage them.
Don’t blend in with the atmosphere and the people that are present in the room. Instead, try to be an enthusiastic person. Attract others into having short, but meaningful chats or even longer conversations.
Try to be one level higher and don’t be scared of appearing silly. Your positive energy won’t go unnoticed — people will eagerly join in and tag along.
11. Make friends with other people’s friends.
Having people in common, like mutual friends who have “similarities,” really matters for us. Establishing a friendship with the acquaintances of others can play a big role in building trust with all of them. Also, it makes people feel closer to each other when they have a couple of similar friends. And it’s a good way to expand the group of people you are in right now.
12. Surprise people when they don’t expect it.
When people receive something pleasant from others that they didn’t ask for, it gives them an extraordinarily good feeling. Don’t be afraid of surprising others with something they might like, without asking their permission to do so. For example, if you are at work and want to go grab yourself a sandwich, you could also grab one more for your colleague. This surprising action will stick in their mind for a long time, and you will be seen as a friendly and nice person.
Which tactics do you use to make people like you? Let’s share our secrets in the comment section!
